CNC Machining Short-Term Training Program
The CNC Machining Program prepares students for a high-demand, entry-level position as a CNC machine operator or general machinist. CNC operators work in a variety of manufacturing environments and are trained to program, set-up, and operate a computer numerical control (CNC) machine, inspect parts, perform production runs and set-up jobs.
Students will gain knowledge and hands-on skills in:
- Blueprint reading
- Precision measurement and gauging
- Turning and milling processes
- Mill and lathe programming and operation

Demand for CNC machine operators is high with manufacturing businesses in the Cedar Valley.
Individuals completing the non-credit certificate may find employment as a CNC machinist. Wages increase with skill and experience. Wages do not include overtime.

Who Should Enroll?
This program is for individuals who enjoy solving problems and can make decisions with information provided, have strong math, mechanical, and computer skills. Individuals should also be comfortable handling and moving objects and performing general physical activities such as standing, lifting, moving, and walking.
Completion Requirements
To earn a non-credit certificate of completion individuals must attend 80% of scheduled classes and receive a grade of 80% on all course materials.

- Complete course introduction, shop safety, print reading, measuring, shop math
- Complete hands-on exercises using Immerse2Learn
- Complete a different CNC set-up and program operation each week
- Train using Haas simulators
- Learn to indicate vises and set-ups during CNC runs
- Continue to develop print reading skills
- Become familiar with speeds and feeds
- Write a program using CNC code
- Edit programs and use CNC programming language weekly
